Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
