Fall Classic Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling extended clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M viewers across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game drew over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two straight years.

Including the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total US average was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
